The camera obscure was invented in 900 AD by Alhazan but his idea of the camera obscure was not developed until the renaissance epoch, 1604. The way that the camera obscure works is, that you set up a dark room which contains a small whole right in the centre of the wall opposite the one that you draw. The image objects outside of the box get reflected onto the wall in front. The image is displayed upside down because the aperture (whole) is very small therefore bending the light consequently displaying the image upside down. The camera obscure can only be used in the day as light is needed for it to work. An example of the camera obscure can be seen in the image to the right.

Francesca Woodman was born on the 3rd of April, 1958. Her family spent their summers at her parents’ farmhouse in the countryside near Florence in Italy and many of her photographs were taken there. European culture and art had a great significance in Francesca's artistic development. For example, you can see the influence of the surrealist art in her work. Man Ray and Claude Cahun's themes and styles can be seen in her work. Francesca Woodman attended Rhodes Island school of design and graduated in 1978 pursuing her career in photography by moving to New York City 1979. Sadly, moving to New York City and coming out of a failed relationship put her in deep depression. On the 19th of January 1981 Francesca Woodman tragically took her life. 5years after her death, 1986, Woodman became and icon from her contemporary pieces.

First, I open photoshop. Then I press files, then load stack so that I can upload the series of images needed to make the GIF. I then load all of the images into a series and make each images lay for one second. After that I edit the image size so that it fits the photo range to upload the GIF onto Weebly. After that I save it to my desktop so that I can upload it onto my Weebly. Lastly, I drag the GIF into my Weebly.

The aperture determines the amount of focal range on objects infant of you and the objects behind you. This is known as the depth of field. If you use the aperture F2.8 you will have a shallow depth of field and if you use the aperture F8 then you get a deep depth of field. The smaller the aperture the more light enter the photo meaning the nigger the aperture less light enter the photo. You can understand this more in the diagram next to this.

The rule of third is when you rearrange the positioning of the subject in your photo to line up with either the horizontal lines or vertical lines of the 3 by 3 grid. In the photo you can see that the photographer applied the rule of third to make the picture more interesting as both the subject and the view are included in the photo.

These photos are made by the subject standing in a dark room and holding a torch. The subject moves the torch in a shape while I hold down on the button that takes the photo, till the subject finishes drawing the shape, holding the shutter open, allowing the light to be taken in by the long exposer. The camera setting was aperture: F11, ISO: 100 and the shutter speed was on bulb.
WWW: The subject drew the shape that they wanted fairly neatly and I held down the shutter for a good amount of time. EBI: The room was completely dark without the computers on in the background and if the light was even brighter so that the white light could be bolder. |
